My Story
Noone can prepare you for the day when the doctors say you have an incurable virus, or disease such as Herpes Simplex 2, or genital herpes.
Here is my story...
I cheated on my fiance seven months ago. I used a condom. However, I don't remember anyone ever saying that you can catch herpes even when a condom is used. I can't blame the condom company, I can only blame my lack of self control and my ignorance. Then, I found out five months ago that I have HSV 2. It wasn't the easiest day in my life but I thought that my fiance loved me and we could work through this. We had worked through so many other things, I thought this could be dealt with. He has sexual issues where he cannot be intimate at times for long periods of times. He can go years without even wanting sex.
I know it sounds like I am making up an excuse, no, that was my excuse at the time. I love him but I need to feel wanted too. It's not only wives who are cold and not interested in sex. Men suffer from this problem as well. I talked to him for a year and a half about this, tried to get counseling, everything. I never wanted to cheat on him. I loved him. However, that didn't excuse my behavior.
In my quest to feel wanted and loved I slept with my ex. I felt horrible about the whole situation, I just wanted someone to make me feel beautiful again. Then I went home. I sat my fiance down and told him what I had done. Then, my ex calls me and says he has herpes. He swears I gave it to him. There is only one way to be certain. Have my fiance of 5 years go get checked.
But my fiance will not go get checked, even though we haven't slept together for 2 years. His inability, or lack of wanting, to get checked makes me pause and wonder if he in fact didn't cheat on me and give it to me years ago. I am uncertain if perhaps that is the reason he quit having sex with me 2 years ago. I was honest and upfront, I think I deserve the same repect.
I just want answers. I am taking the heat in all directions, which I understand. I will take the responsibility for my actions. I'm not shy about being honest and embracing things head on.
So, with my fiances approval, I have set up this poll.
Help me out by answering it for me. Thanks.

Should My Fiance Go Get Checked For Herpes?

Tough situation. You may want to talk to your doctor. I just did a google search and found that if symptoms are going to appear, it is usually within 2 weeks of exposure. In any case, your fiance needs to know whether or not he is infected. His reluctance does seem odd. Best wishes on working it out.
